Details

Patrick Taylor

Received a slot with the JET program after graduating with Upper Division Honors.  Currently located in Sumoto, Japan. (http://patrick-jetlag.blogspot.com/) As a writer, Patrick submitted a short fiction piece to Scribendi, the literary journal for the Western Regional Honors Council and was granted inclusion in the 2007 edition.  You can read his work on their site: http://scribendi.unm.edu/Archives/2007/docs/finder.pdf His story finder won him the Staff Choice award for fiction as well. 

Kevin Eldridge

A Peer Mentor for the University Honors Program (currently staying in India for his EAP experience) submitted a poem to Scribendi, the literary journal for the Western Regional Honors Council and was granted inclusion in the 2007 edition.  His poem anachronism won him the Staff Choice award as well.

J. Marie Hicks

Awarded a full fellowship with the UC Riverside Department of Psychology for pursuit of a Ph.D. in Social Psychology

UCR Alumni Association Commencement Award

Given to a distinguished student leader who has devoted significant time and effort to community services projects and programs.  Award was established in 1965 by the UCR Alumni Association and includes lifetime membership in the organization.

Recipient:   Eugenia Wu, Business Administration

Dean Loda Mae Davis Award

Recognizes a graduating woman for her outstanding participation in extracurricular campus activities, leadership in campus organizations and academic achievement.  Award given in memory of UCR’s first Dean of Women, established in 1964 by the Prytanean Women’s Honor Society.

Recipient:  Eugenia Wu, Business Administration

Margules/Weiman Humanitarian of the Year Award

Recognizes a UCR undergraduate student who serves as a role model and inspiration to others. Award established in 1990 by Anthony Marguleas in honor of his grandparents, Joe and Belle Marguleas and Louis and Jessie Weiman, who dedicated their lives to the betterment of their community.

Dean Thomas L. Broadbent Award

Recognizes a graduating male student for his outstanding participation in extracurricular campus activities, leadership in campus organizations and academic achievement.  The award is given in memory of UCR’s first Dean of Students, established in 1965 by the Associated Men Students.
