UHP Peer Mentor: Sneha Surapaneni

Hey Everyone! My name is Sneha. I’m a third year biology major and this is my second year as a peer mentor. I was born and raised in India till I was 8. Then I lived in Kenya for 2 years, and then I lived in Illinois for 6 years and then I moved to California! I love UCR because it’s a small school with a big name and there are so many opportunities for anyone who’s looking. I’m absolutely in love with life and everything about it. I’m hoping to go to medical school one day and my ultimate goal is to help underserved communities locally and internationally.

Hmm… what else about me? I love thunderstorms, ice cream, snow, quotes, traveling, hiking( up to the C!), books, food and SLEEP!! If you ever see me on campus, feel free to come talk to me about anything! I hope you guys are looking forward to your first year of college because I know I am [looking forward to YOUR first year]!

Looking for Community Service?

Make sure you pick a community service activity that you find interesting and enjoy. I personally love Corazon De Vida, where you visit children living in orphanages in Mexico. There’s also Best Buddies, where you get to interact with mentally disabled students. These are personal favorites of mine but if you go out there looking, there are so many opportunities to get involved especially since you’re a part of the Honors Program.
