UHP Peer Mentor: Rayek Nafiz

My name is Rayek Nafiz, and I am a second year Biology major. Quite possibly, I will soon be a double major with Religious Studies as my second. I’m originally from Bangladesh, where I spent my first ten years, and since then I have lived all over California. I attended Redlands High School before coming to UCR.

In addition to the Honors program, I’m also involved with the Clinical Care Extenders program at Riverside Community Hospital. I plan to go to medical school after finishing up my undergraduate studies, and if you plan to do the same I recommend that you apply to the program- it will give you great exposure to the hospital setting! I also work as a SI leader at the Learning Center tutoring chemistry. If you are ever having trouble in your science classes, the SI program is a great resource available on campus, so don’t hesitate to get help!

When I’m not busy with the academics, I enjoy playing basketball. I play intramural basketball every quarter with fellow honors students. I am also involved with the Muslim Student Association here on campus.
