UHP Peer Mentor: Luis Correa

My name is Luis Correa. I am a Creative Writing and Religious Studies major (yet I am still open to new areas of study). I’ll try to sum up my interests in one-or-two-word phrases so that you can easily use this as a frame of reference when establishing your opinion about me: art, illustration, theater, good music, good films, novels, short stories, poetry, walking, playwriting, screenwriting, occasional dance, tea, psychoanalysis, faith, keeping busy, social activism, late nights, early mornings, Sharpies, good videogames, Post-Its, languages, cultures, learning, mythology, humor, self-deprecating humor, making things, notebooks, museums, and general intellectualism.

Here at UCR, I’m the editor-in-chief of Audeamus, president of Spirit of Life (SóL), a member of Voice of Invisible Children (VOIC), and the worst player in UCR’s intramural bowling league.
Whenever I’m around campus and alone, I will either be reading (for fun), listening to my iPod (Radiohead, most of the time), or both—even when I’m walking. If you ever find me in this situation, don’t be afraid to talk to me about (a) one of my above interests, (b) how Wes Anderson’s films are awesome, or (c) yourself.
If you have any questions regarding anything from above, questions about UCR, or you just want to talk, send me an email. Make sure to include what luxury item you would take on a rainforest expedition—just in case.

Looking for Community Service?

Corazon de Vida is a non-profit organization based in Irvine, CA. The main purpose of this organization is to raise funds that help maintain underprivileged orphanages in Mexico by providing food, running water, electricity and other essentials. This organization is currently supporting fifteen orphanages in the area of Baja, Mexico. Once a month (third Saturday of the month) a group of students and adults, leave in the morning on a bus at a UCR parking lot. The bus goes to one of the orphanages supported by Corazon de Vida and has basically has fun, in hopes of garnering financial and emotional support for the children. If you would like to participate, feel more than welcome to contact me. Sign up for the trips on www.corazondevida.org. It's for the kids!
