UHP Peer Mentor: Lillian Nguyen

Hi everyone! My name is Lillian Nguyen and I'm from Ontario, California which is only about 20 minutes away from Riverside. I'm a second-year English major and I'm currently exploring my options for a double major (likely to be something associated with language and/or culture). At UCR, I'm also involved with arts and entertainment section of The Highlander, the school newspaper.

Other than that, a few random things that make me deliriously happy are: bookstores, xylophones (especially in live music), bright colors, and shiny clothes. In my spare time, I'm always experimenting with the intersection of design and practicality in the everyday, such as in clothes and interior spaces -- nothing is off limits, no matter how old, tacky, or ugly. It keeps things interesting!

If you see me around, feel free to say hi! I'm always willing to help or just talk, so you can reach me by email or Facebook as well.

Looking for Community Service?

I volunteer at my local no-kill animal shelter, usually just spending time with the dogs and cats to ensure that they remain (or become) good candidates for adoption. Also, I often go on Corazon de Vida trips to orphanages in Baja, Mexico with lots of other honors students. If you really enjoy working with people or animals, these are both great options for you to complete your volunteer hours! www.corazondevida.org. It's for the kids!
