UHP Peer Mentor: Felicia Pranata
Hi, my name is Felicia Pranata. I was born in the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta. I immigrated to the U.S. in the beginning of my junior year of high school, when I was 16. I miss living in Indonesia, but I know that I’m having a great life here in America. My first name means “Happiness”, which explains why my life is also full of happiness. I always face problems in my life with smiles, and it’s not easy to make me depressed. I know that there will always be a way out. No worries, be happy! ^.^ On the first meeting, people think that I am a shy girl. But, once they get to know me better, they will think that I am a cheerful person who sometimes talks too much. Well, I’m just excited every time I’m around my friends because they are awesome and important for me. I love sunset! It always amazes me that there is such a beautiful thing in this world. That’s why I like to take pictures of them. I also love the Harry Potter books; I’m halfway done with the last book. Can’t wait to see the ending of this cool story. My hope is to be a dentist one day. I’m majoring in Biological Sciences right now, and I’m planning to go to a dental school once I graduate. There is a long way ahead from me towards my goal, but I will try my best to make it happen. The UHP community has helped me a lot on my first year in UCR, and as a part of it, I hope that I can make the same contribution on your whole college life.
Looking for Community Service?
When it comes to community
service, I really want to recommend you to join the Flying Samaritans
organization here in UCR. It is a great way to learn more about medical field.
Flying Samaritans is an international organization that sends doctors, nurses,
pharmacists, dentists, and volunteers to work in a clinic in Baja, Mexico, every
month. It is a very exciting and inspirational activity if you get chosen to go
as a volunteer to the clinic, because you get to see directly how the doctors,
nurses, dentists, and pharmacists handle the patients. You, as a volunteer, also
work with the patients, so students who are interested in medical field will
know how it really feels to work with patients.
