UHP Peer Mentor: Julieta Stepanyan

Hey guys! What's up?! My name's Julieta Stepanyan and I'm a third year student here at UCR. I’m majoring in Psychology, Law and Society and minoring in Spanish. A little background info… I was born in Armenia, a small country in Southwestern Asia. My family and I moved to the United States when I was 11-years-old, and I call Riverside home for now!

Now for the fun stuff! I absolutely LOVE monkeys!! (if you see my room, you'll understand what I mean!) I also love dogs, especially my cute doggie, Daisy! =) My favorite show of all time is "I Love Lucy" and I've probably seen each episode at least 10 times! I love spending time with my family and friends, going to the beach, watching chick flicks, hanging out at Starbucks, and just doing anything else fun and relaxing! I really enjoy playing sports (especially tennis), running, and working out… Cardio kickboxing and Ab Attack are personal favorites at the UCR Rec. Center (they also count for personal growth!!)

Some plans for the future… After I graduate from UCR, I hope to attend law school and maybe someday become a DA somewhere fun and exciting! I would love to have a pet monkey (a cute little one!), but sadly it's illegal in California! If I have enough money, however, I would also like to have some sort of a pet adoption center, mainly for dogs. =)

If you run into me at the Honors Office or anywhere else, you might find me laughing uncontrollably at silly little things, tripping and falling on my face, or doing any other dorky thing you can think of! So if you see me at such moments, don't worry… it's normal! (at least for me it is!)
That's about all I can think of right now… I love getting to know people and I also love to talk, so if you guys have any questions, problems, or just want to say hi… feel free to approach me!! =) Have an awesome year, and most of all… don't forget to enjoy the little things in life!

"There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness."  Carl Jung

Looking for Community Service?

There are so many community service opportunities out there!! Make sure to find one that works for YOU… not anyone else! (and trust me, everyone can find something!) I personally really enjoy volunteering with Young At Heart! OMG! It's so much fun!! What we do is basically just go to a local retirement home every Saturday for 2 hours and just hang out with the coolest senior citizens in the world! We play BINGO, paint their nails, talk, listen to stories about the "good ol' days," and oh yea… have parties for the residents every quarter!!! It's a great opportunity to make a difference in someone's life! I could go on and on with details… but I won't! If you're interested, feel free to ask me anytime! =)
