Community Service Opportunities

Consistent with the University Honors Program's belief in "service learning," students are required to volunteer their talents and efforts to better the community.

Fill out a Community Service Verification Form  (Can't access the forms online?  Download here!)

READ THIS! Commitment: 10 Hours per Quarter
If you join an organization you should commit for at least one or two full quarters. However, if you choose to participate in various "one-time" activities, you may use more than one to meet the 10 hour requirement.  Turn in a separate Community Service Verification Form for each activity/organization. Some activities/organizations require a specific time commitment that may be greater than 10 hours.  You are held to whatever that organization requires.  (For example, quitting the UCR Safety Escort Service after completing 10 hours but not fulfilling their quarter-long requirement, will result in no community service credit.)

Best Buddies is a community service organization that works to socially integrate people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships. To create these one-to-one friendships, Best Buddies matches college volunteers with adults from Project Team, a local transition school. We also do monthly group events such as dances and holiday parties. We believe that through the act of stretching their circle of friends and by becoming people who are relied upon, both our Buddies and volunteers learn valuable lessons about acceptance, trust, and reliability. Our vibrant club is a wonderful way to have fun!
